What you need to know

  • Microsoft has added a new dynamic background to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles themed around Halo Infinite.
  • Halo Infinite launches on Xbox consoles and PC on Dec 8. 2021 with a single-player campaign and free-to-play multiplayer.

Microsoft has launched a new Halo Infinite-themed dynamic background for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles, following its announcement of a scheduled Dec. 8, 2021 release date for its single-player campaign and multiplayer modes. The new theme adds Halo Infinite to the selection of moving wallpapers on Microsoft's latest Xbox consoles.

As with dynamic backgrounds, this Halo Infinite wallpaper remains exclusive to the new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. It joins over a dozen official backgrounds with motion, including past designs inspired by Xbox 360 and the original Xbox.

The Halo Infinite background can be enabled via the Settings app on Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, navigating to

General > Personalization > My background > Dynamic backgrounds

The latest additions, including the Halo Infinite background, can be found on the left-hand side of the menu. If the background fails to appear, repeat the steps after rebooting your Xbox console.

Halo Infinite is slated to launch on Dec 8. 2021, on Xbox consoles and PCs. Microsoft has opened Halo Infinite preorders, priced at $60 for the single-player campaign, with a free-to-play multiplayer mode planned for launch. Gamescom 2021 also introduced a new limited-edition Master Chief-themed Xbox Elite Controller and Halo Infinite Xbox Series X console for preorder, launching Nov. 15, 2021.
