Wireless charging groups A4WP and PMA come under one banner as AirFuel Alliance
After announcing plans to merge earlier this year, the Alliance For Wireless Power (A4WP) and Power Matters Alliance (PMA) have come together under one name: AirFuel Alliance. The two companies previously operated as separate competitors to the popular Qi wireless charging standard, with A4WP supporting its own Rezence standard, and PMA powering the technology behind Powermat. After a period of time, products from both companies will carry the AirFuel name:
Under the AirFuel banner, the group will face an uphill battle to counter the Wireless Power Consortiums popular Qi charging standard. In all, AirFuel is composed of 195 member companies, including some that also back WPC, like Samsung and Qualcomm.
