Windows Phone App Review: The Quote
Looking for a good quote to use? How about a humorous saying to lift your spirits or an inspirational passage to make you think? The Quote is a Windows Phone app that has more the 2,500 quotes that may just fill your needs.
The Quote spreads the quotes into fifteen categories or you can sift through them all from a centralized listing. There's even Live Tile support with The Quote where you can pin your favorite category of quotes, author or individual quotes.
The Quote is laid out in Modern UI fashion with pages highlighting the categories, a slideshow generator, randomly selected quotes, author information, and the settings/about pages. Settings for The Quote basically covering changing the background image (there are 85 currently), pinning the app to the Start Screen and Rate the app.
From the quote listings you have button controls to tag the category as a favorite and an inspire button that will randomly select a quote from the group. Individual quotes can be tagged as favorites or pinned to your Start Screen.
Pulling up an individual quote will obviously display the quote but also include pages with the author's information, and an actions page. Actions include share the quote, email the quote, text the quote, and generate a lock screen wallpaper using the quote. When you generate a lock screen wallpaper, you choose the background image by shaking your Windows Phone. Once you run across just the right image, tap the screen to save things to your Pictures Hub.
The Quote is a nice looking app that delivers a healthy amount of quotes to your Windows Phone. The only feature that stands out as missing is a search feature. I could see a sharing action also beneficial to let you share quotes on Twitter or Facebook.
Nonetheless, The Quote is a welcomed app to your Windows Phone library should you be in the need for a quote resource. There is a free trial version of The Quote available that is limited to 60 quotes and does not have the ability to update/download additional quotes. The full version of The Quote is currently running $.99 and has access to the full quotation library plus any additional quote updates. You can find it all here at the Windows Phone Marketplace.
