Will The Division 2 be on Uplay?
Will The Division 2 be on Uplay?
I thought it was coming to the Epic Games Store?
It is. It's just not only coming to the Epic Games Store. The Division 2 can be played on PC through either Uplay or Epic's client.
In regards to the launch on Epic's store, Ubisoft partnerships boss Chris Early said, "We entrust Epic to deliver a smooth journey for our fans, from pre-ordering the game and enjoying our Beta to the launch of Tom Clancy's The Division 2 on March 15. Epic continues to disrupt the video game industry, and their third-party digital distribution model is the latest example, and something Ubisoft wants to support."
What is Uplay?
Uplay is Ubisoft's own digital distribution service created by Massive Entertainment. Think of Uplay as a game client similar to Steam or EA Origin, but exclusively for Ubisoft games. In addition, Uplay features a system that allows players to earn units by completing certain objectives in Ubisoft games, which can then be used to unlock in-game rewards.
Will it ever arrive on Steam?
It's entirely possible, but we don't know for sure at this point. The first game released on Steam at a time when the Epic Games Store didn't exist. As far as we know right now, The Division 2 is only slated for Uplay and the Epic Games Store on PC, but it is unclear if there is a timed exclusivity deal in place with Epic. Metro Exodus was recently pulled from Steam before launch to be exclusively sold on the Epics Games Store for one year, after which it will likely come to Steam. The same may happen to The Division 2 down the road.
Take back Washington
Civil war has fallen upon Washington D.C. after the pandemic. It's up to you and your fellow Agents to band together and save the city. Just don't count on doing it through Steam's client any time soon.
