Where to farm the best weapons in Borderlands 3
Weapon farming is a classic Borderlands activity. Here's the best place for doing it in Borderlands 3.
Weapon farming is something that Borderlands players have been doing since the first game came out, as the series' respawning enemies allow players to clear the same areas (and boss fights) over and over again to try and score a lucky high-tier loot drop, such as an epic or legendary-level item. Borderlands 3 has now arrived, and players have already begun searching for the best places to farm in the new title. There are a few strong locations in the game, but ultimately, there is one that trumps all others. Here's our guide on where it is, as well as what you need to do.
The legendary franchise returns
Borderlands 3 offers a gargantuan array of different weapons to find, tons of new enemies to battle, new Vault Hunters to control, and new worlds to explore. Are you ready for mayhem?
So, where should you go?
In order to start taking advantage of the best weapon farm in Borderlands 3, you're going to need to head to where it is first! To do this, travel to the planet Athenas and follow the path forwards, killing Maliwan troops along the way if they pose a serious threat to you. Keep going until you reach the area marked on the map image above — this is where the Maliwan boss Captain Traunt spawns.
Out of all of the different bosses in the game to farm, we chose Captain Traunt because he's arguably the easiest one to kill, as his attacks are simple and there's plenty of cover you can use to avoid them. In addition, his health isn't as high as most other Borderlands 3 bosses. Lastly, when you save and quit to the main menu and then reload in, the game will place you right outside of his spawn location, which means you can start farming him again right away.
How can you farm more efficiently?
The best way that you can farm this spot more efficiently is to do it in Mayhem Mode (level three is the best version) which ups the chances of you getting rare loot drops significantly. Killing the same enemy over and over again can be pretty boring, so increasing your drop chances will ensure you'll get a backpack full of good loot in the least possible amount of time.
The other way you can speed up the process of farming Captain Traunt is to bring a shock elemental weapon along. Over half of Captain Traunt's health is shield health, so a weapon that is effective at shield-stripping will be a huge help when it comes to killing Captain Traunt faster. Don't forget to aim at the fuel tank on his back, too, as it's a weak spot and will allow you to score critical hits.
