Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide runs at native 4K on Xbox One X and 1440p on PlayStation 4 Pro. An interview between WCCFtech and Producer Robert Bäckström revealed this information. When asked about the technical details of the game on each platform, Bäckström said the following.
The Xbox One X Enhanced version is available now in the Xbox One store. It has native 4K render support, improved anti-aliasing and shadow casting, more detailed textures, and a sharper image for an improved visual look. The stronger CPU power allows us to run the game in a more consistent framerate for a smoother game experience... We took a rather late decision to omit HDR support for both the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X version of Warhammer Vermintide due to resources being used in the sequel. But we hope to remedy that in the upcoming sequel... Details are still being finalized, but our target resolution on PlayStation 4 Pro is native 1440p.
It's great to see developers make use of the 1.8 teraflops advantage the Xbox One X has over the PlayStation 4 Pro to push higher resolutions. The jump from 1440p to native 4K should result in a clearer picture on 4K displays. Upscaling 1440p images to a 4K display causes them to be quite blurry in comparison. It's a shame that the game won't feature HDR because it makes color pop.
