Verizon joins the SMS-Price-Gouging Club

SIGH. Following Cingular and Sprint, Verizon is raising their SMS pricing. It's unclear whether this will present the same opportunity for Verizon users that it did for Sprint and Cingular users: namely, free contract breakage for angry folks. In any case, this move just chaps my hide. Once you have the infrastructure built, shouldn't prices go down?

Effective March 1, Verizon will raise the current pricing of text messages from $.10 to $.15 per message for those that have chosen to not subscribe to a message plan.
