Amy Hennig, best known for her work directing the first three Uncharted games, is working on a new AAA Marvel game at Skydance New Media, the company announced on Friday. A division of Skydance Media, Skydance New Media is a new studio led by Hennig and former Eleetronic Arts senior producer Julian Beak. This game is described as a "blockbuster action-adventure game" that will be an "original" take on the Marvel universe.

"I can't imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game," Hennig said. "The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It's an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love."

The team at Skydance New Media is composed of video game veterans, as well as consultants familiar with TV, movies and comic books. The team is also "story-focused," fitting with Hennig's prior work.

The last few years have seen numerous big-budget Marvel games, with Sony-owned Insomniac Games carving out its own universe through Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and two upcoming projects in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Marvel's Wolverine. Meanwhile, publisher Square Enix has launched Marvel's Avengers and the more recent Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
