What you need to know

  • Total War: Warhammer 3 has been revealed.
  • It includes armies for the four Chaos Gods as well as Kislev and Cathay.
  • Total War: Warhammer 3 is scheduled to arrive for PC sometime in late 2021.

After several days of teasing, Sega and Creative Assembly's Total War: Warhammer III has been officially revealed. You can check out the reveal trailer below.

Total War: Warhammer 3 takes place in The Realm of Chaos, where the four Chaos Gods hold sway: Khorne, Slaanesh, Tzeentch and Nurgle. Opposing these beings of pure chaos are the kingdom of Kislev and the empire of Cathay. Sometime after launch, players will be able to combine these this game with the two prior titles, creating a massive mega-campaign.

It's worth noting this will be the first game in the series launching with six base factions: each Chaos God has a distinct roster, while Creative Assembly has been working with Games Workshop to flesh out the shrouded-in-myth empire of Cathay. Game director Ian Roxburgh tells PC Gamer the map in Total War: Warhammer 3 is around the twice the size of the map in the Eye of the Vortex campaign for Total War: Warhammer 2.

There's no explicit mention of the long-rumored and long hoped-for Chaos Dwarfs or Ogre Kingdoms however, Creative Assembly notes that anyone who preorders Total War: Warhammer 3 is getting an additional race pack specifically for this game, so don't lose hope yet.

There's no exact release date right now outside of "Late 2021" so we'll be sure to keep you updated on just when this exciting final chapter arrives. Whenever it does, it could easily be not just one of the best strategy games but one of the best PC games available in general.
