Surface Book 2, Pro, and Laptop firmware updates now rolling out to Windows Insiders
A fresh firmware update is now rolling out to Surface Laptops enrolled in the Insider program.
Updated April 19, 2018: We have confirmed that updates are rolling out to Surface Book 2 and Surface Pro devices enrolled in Insider rings as well.
If you've got a Surface Laptop enrolled in the Windows Insider program, you'll want to check Windows Update. Microsoft has begun rolling out a firmware update for the machine, but it's not entirely clear what's new.
The update itself is listed in Windows Update as "Surface - Firmware - 2/28/2018." And while the date attached is the same as the most recent public release listed on the Surface Update page, the version number for the Insider update (135.2139.257.0) is newer than the public release's (135.2114.3.0).
We've spotted the update rolling out to two Surface Laptops enrolled in the Fast ring. A user on Reddit also reports receiving the update on the Slow ring.
If you have a Surface Laptop in the Insider program, the update should be rolling out now. If and when Microsoft issues release notes, I'll update this post with more information on what's new.
