Sunset Overdrive for Windows PC rated by ESRB (updated)
Sunset Overdrive is seemingly headed to Windows PCs, following an ESRB rating.
Sunset Overdrive was among 2014's top Xbox One exclusives, developed by Insomniac Games, and defined by its wacky, fluid third-person shooter gameplay. While the studio has since moved forward with a hit Spider-Man PlayStation 4 game, it appears the project hasn't been forgotten.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) (via Gemastu) has now rated Sunset Overdrive for PC, indicating a re-release is on the horizon. A similar listing appeared back in May, where the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) pushed a classification for its PC debut.
Microsoft is yet to announce a PC version of Sunset Overdrive, however with X018 set for next week, the game could be in attendance. Given Microsoft's recently Windows 10 gaming investments, a cross-platform Xbox Play Anywhere release could be on the cards.
Updated October 11, 2018: Our sources have confirmed Sunset Overdrive's upcoming PC debut is near, likely headed to Windows 10 via the integrated Microsoft Store. While this doesn't rule out a wider potential release via Steam, it's clear some form of revival is underway four years after the initial release. With Microsoft now committing resources to Sunset Overdrive in 2018, Xbox One X enhancements shouldn't be ruled out.
The ESRB rated Sunset Overdrive "Mature" for Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Violence. This falls in line with the Xbox One version.
In other news, Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, recently announced an expansion of Xbox Game Pass for PC.
