Strategy game 'Wargroove' joins Xbox Play Anywhere

Over the past few months, many high-profile games have joined Xbox Play Anywhere. The program allows you to purchase a support game once — either on Xbox One or Windows 10 — and play it on both platforms at no additional cost. Your Xbox Achievements and progress carries over as well.

Today, a strategy game called Wargroove joined Xbox Play Anywhere. The description states that it's designed for up to four players. You have to choose your commander and wage turn-based war on battling factions. Wargroove is meant to be a social experience so you can easily design and share maps, cutscenes, and campaigns through the built-in editors and customization tools.

Command an army, customize battlefields, and challenge your friends, in this richly-detailed return to retro turn-based combat! When war breaks out in the Kingdom of Cherrystone, the young Queen Mercia must flee her home. Pursued by her foes, the only way to save her kingdom is travel to new lands in search of allies. But who will she meet along the way, and what sinister challenges will she face?

You can purchase Wargroove for $19.99 on the Microsoft Store. Aside from being an Xbox Play Anywhere title, it also features cross-play with other platforms.

It's great to see that Xbox Play Anywhere keeps on growing. Features like cross-progression are becoming increasingly common in the industry, and will probably become an industry standard when next-generation consoles launch in 2020. Hopefully this trend will continue in the future as more developers adopt this technology.
