Stellaris 'Distant Stars' pack lets players explore uncharted space on PC

Today, Paradox Interactive announced "Distant Stars" for Stellaris. Distant Stars is a new story pack which transports players to uncharted solar systems. For $9.99, the pack should add new content and features to Stellaris including a sealed jump lane in the gateway network leading to a mysterious sector entirely outside known space, but players must be quick as the mightiest empires of the galaxy are all racing to find the secret to unlock it. We don't have a release date yet, but it should be announced soon.

Players will uncover new anomalies and storylines, and find strange new beings in the uncharted depths of space. The content begins when you discover hidden traces of an ancient gateway network unlocking a sealed path to a constellation outside our own galaxy. You have to plot unexplored unique solar systems, each with their own story to tell. Lastly, you'll come into contact with a number of unique gargantuan creatures that exist and thrive in the vacuum of space.

It's great to see that Stellaris is being aggressively supported even over a year later. Usually, many developers release a "Game of the Year Edition" by now and move onto the next project. Stellaris is a title you can play for hundreds of hours so it's understandable why the developer's approach is this long term.

According to the developer, Stellaris is an evolution of the grand strategy genre with space exploration at its core. It features deep strategic gameplay, and a rich and enormously diverse selection of alien races and emergent storytelling. The game contains engaging moments that reward interstellar exploration as you traverse, discover, interact, and learn more about the multitude of species you will encounter during your travels. There are a lot of mechanics to master here so be prepared for a somewhat steep learning curve when you first dive in. It takes some time to get familiar with the gameplay, but it's quite satisfying once you do.
