The WD Black SN850 1TB NVMe solid state drive is on sale at Best Buy for $189.99 today. There are two versions of the SN850. One, this one on sale today, has a heatsink for better thermal protection so you can push it a little harder with games and heavy applications. There is also a version that does not. In the case of today's deal you're only paying about $15 more for the heatsink, which makes this a great bargain considering this version of the SSD is going for as much as $250 at other retailers like B&H.

So the SN850 is a newer generation in a long line of successful SSDs from Western Digital. The previous gen, the SN750, is still a great drive that you can get at a much less expensive price right now even at Best Buy. Of course, it's a lot slower, too. The SN850 makes huge improvements in the read/write speeds, thermal protection, and durability among other things.

You can get up to 7,000 MB/s and 5,300 MB/s read and write speeds with the SN850. That's so fast. You know how sometimes you load stuff up and then go get some coffee or check your email or something? You won't be able to do that anymore. You'll just have to be even more productive. Perish the thought. Compare that speed to a regular SATA SSD that tops out around 560 MB/s or even an M.2 SSD drive that doesn't have NVMe. Plus, with a 1TB capacity you'll be able to laod up plenty of games and larger applications.

The SN850 works with Windows 8.1, Windows 10, and Windows 11. It can also work with the PlayStation 5 if you have one.
