Slingpin for Windows Phone launches this month's AdDuplex HERO App lineup

Slingpin is an arcade styled Windows Phone game that offers a unique twist on the game of bowling. Instead of rolling your bowling ball down the lane, you use a slingshot to launch your bowling ball. Slingpin is an entertaining game to pass the time with and is today's AdDuplex HERO app.

The HERO App program is a promotional campaign for Windows Phone and Windows developers on the AdDuplex Network. The program has changed slightly from last year and partners AdDuplex with AppDeals, TechRewards{.nofollow} and Windows Central to deliver a host of benefits to the top apps and games each month. Our role in the HERO App campaign is to offer a little exposure to these titles by sharing them with you, our readers.

Slingpin has a modest primary menu with options to mute the sound, rate and share the game with friends, visit the game's Facebook page and view the About page. While the free version of Slingpin is ad supported, you will also find the option to remove the ad support through a $0.99 in-app purchase.

Slingpin

The Windows Phone game has 74 progressively unlocked levels of play that are spread out across four difficulty levels that include easy, medium, hard and insane difficulties. The goal with each level of play is simple, knock down all of the pins within the limited number of shots. There is no time limit for the levels, so you have the luxury of choosing your shots carefully.

Each level will have an assortment of bowling pins scattered about on ledges or suspended from hooks. You will also find obstacles and barricades protecting the bowling pins from your shots.

Shooting your bowling ball is accomplished in your typical tap/drag fashion. Just tap on the bowling ball and drag it backwards to stretch your slingshot. A dotted white line will appear to help you line up your shot and when all is to your liking release your hold on the screen to take the shot. Balls can ricochet off the sides of the gaming screen, pins can be bounced off one another and objects can be knocked into the pins.

The game does a nice job of offering you several approaches to achieving the goal of knocking all the pins down and tests your skills at aiming, patience and creativity.

Scoring loosely follows the traditional scoring for bowling. Knock all your pins down in one shot and you will score a strike and using more than one shot will net you a spare. Obviously, the fewer shots taken, the better your overall score for each level.

All in all, Slingpin is a fun, casually paced Windows Phone game. Game mechanics are straightforward, graphics are modest but nicely drawn up and gameplay will keep you challenged. And though it's free with ad support, you can make those ads go away for ever for a nominal $0.99 in-app fee.
