The first duo of free Xbox Games with Gold for August is now available. Starting today, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can pick up both Slime Rancher and Bayonetta for free.
Usually up for grabs at $20, Slime Rancher is a game about a rancher that travels to another planet to, well, "wrangle" slimes. From the game's description:
Slime Rancher is the tale of Beatrix LeBeau, a plucky, young rancher who sets out for a life a thousand light years away from Earth on the 'Far, Far Range' where she tries her hand at making a living wrangling slimes. With a can-do attitude, plenty of grit, and her trusty vacpack, Beatrix attempts to stake a claim, amass a fortune, and avoid the continual peril that looms from the rolling, jiggling avalanche of slimes around every corner!
The developer behind Slime Rancher has previously expressed intentions to support Xbox Play Anywhere, which means this free Xbox game could turn into a free Windows 10 game as well in the future. That's definitely a solid pick-up if the game is in your wheelhouse.
Xbox 360 players, and anyone who wants to add another backward compatible game to their Xbox One, can also pick up Bayonetta for free. A relatively recent classic at this point, Bayonetta follows the titular character on an action-fueled journey to take down evil. Along the way, you'll have to hack and slash through enemies while using magic, shapeshifting, and even using your hair to summon demons.
Slime Rancher will be free throughout the entire month of August, and Bayonetta will be free from August 1 through August 15. Later in August, you'll be able to pick up both Trials Fusion and Red Faction: Armageddon.
