Shadow of the Tomb Raider's launch trailer focuses on the Mayan apocalypse
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is almost here.
According to publisher Square Enix, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the conclusion to Lara Croft's origin story. Lara must master a deadly jungle, overcome terrifying tombs, and persevere through her darkest hour. As she races to save the world from a Mayan apocalypse, Lara will ultimately be forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.
The trailer shows off some of the breathtaking locations found throughout the game and the bombastic story. Unlike the frozen wastelands in Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider takes place in a dense jungle. You can also interact with the environment and its inhabitants like never before.
The visuals have to be the standout feature in the video because they're absolutely amazing. For example, the flood showcased during some of the scenes looks genuinely harrowing and realistic. There's a greater focus on survival this time around.
The game is currently available for preorder at various retailers like Amazon or the Microsoft Store. Shadow of the Tomb Raider should launch on Xbox One and other platforms on September 14, 2018, starting at $59.99. Those who preorder the Digital Deluxe Edition or "Croft Edition" can play it on September 12. Lastly, the title runs at native 4K resolution on Xbox One X, but also features a 1080p 60 FPS mode.
