Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the conclusion to Lara Croft's origin story. Lara must master a deadly jungle, overcome terrifying tombs, and persevere through her darkest hour. As she races to save the world from a Mayan apocalypse, Lara will ultimately be forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.
The game hasn't set retail shelves on fire, and it looks like Square Enix is trying to encourage sales through a free trial. The following message was posted on the game's website.
In the Free Trial for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you have full access to the opening levels of the critically acclaimed action-adventure. Unlock the complete game to carry over your progress and achievements!
It's unclear how successful this effort will be. We'll just have to wait and find out. The free trial appears to be a permanent promotion. The game is great so it deserves more success than it's garnering at the moment. It might not be as great as the prequels, but it's still a lot of fun, especially at 4K on Xbox One X!
