There's a lot to do, and the title's popularity continues to grow due to its excellent post-launch support. Since Sea of Thieves is part of Xbox Game Pass, it's hard to know just how populated the title is. Luckily, Xbox Games Marketing Manager Aaron Greenberg discussed some relative statistics.
Recently, Gamereactor managed to interview Greenberg. During the conversation, he revealed that Sea of Thieves was a "top-performing" title. You can read part of the statement below.
It's been incredible to see the reaction. Talking to both development partners and the customers, we realized there was an opportunity to create an audience, create a great value with gaming, and help people discover their next favorite game. What's really fun for me is talking to our development partners and seeing the success they're having, because we have a lot of people that are making games... overnight they could have millions of people playing their game because it becomes the latest new release or shows up essentially in their queue in Game Pass. Sea of Thieves has been one of our top-performing titles in Game Pass. It was one of our first titles that we launched day one into the service... it's built a huge community both on the PC and console.
While it's unclear where Sea of Thieves exactly stands, it's good to know that it's one of the "top-performing" games on the service. If you take a look at the "Most played games" on the Microsoft Store, it's frequently in the top 10 when it comes to Xbox Game Pass listings.
The next Sea of Thieves event starts on September 11 and it's called Smuggler's Fortune. It was previously referred to by another name, but this more accurately reflects what it's about.
