Sea of Thieves pets, emotes, and ship cosmetics coming to Insiders soon
New ways to play.
What you need to know
- Sea of Thieves is an exploration-based pirate game from Rare.
- You'll soon be able to buy pets and other cosmetic items.
- Sea of Thieves Insiders may be able to test them later this week.
- You can purchase an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription on Amazon.
Sea of Thieves is an exploration-based pirate game which relies on emergent experiences. While the title launched as a somewhat barebones title, it has now become so much more due to time-limited events. However, that's not where Sea of Thieves' story ends. On April 30, the game got its long-awaited "Anniversary Update" which adds cooking, fishing, harpooning, and single-player quests.
Rare has been constantly updating the game, and the team is working hard to bring even more features. If you're a Sea of Thieves Insider, you'll be able to play around with pets and new emotes very soon.
There won't be any loot box mechanics or random microtransactions. You'll be able to pick which cosmetic items to buy without any ambiguity.
- Pets: Pets are going to be added for Sea of Thieves Insiders "very soon." They weren't as intended when they initially became available to testers, but now they're almost ready.
- Emotes: More purchasable emotes will be added. Pets will be coming first, and then "soon after that" emotes will be added.
- Ship cosmetics: Ship cosmetics will be added after that. You'll be able to buy special, paid, items to express yourself.
The team is also working on some other hotly-requested changes. You can read about them below.
- Cross-play toggle: You'll soon be able to choose if you only want to play with those using a controller.
- Hit detection: Hit detection is also being improved.
- The Arena: Rare is looking at ways to bring more ships to The Arena.
Which one of these features are you looking forward to the most? Let us know. Hopefully, with continued support, more players will pick up the game. It's available through Xbox Game Pass at the moment, so if you haven't tried it, be sure to give it a go.
