People might have another budget-friendly Ryzen 3 chip to choose from starting next month. According to a report by Lowyat via Tom's Hardware, the AMD Ryzen 3 2300X could soon be generally available for purchase starting on March 3, 2020. Currently, the chip is only available for purchase by OEMs.
The Ryzen 3 2300X has a base clock speed of 3.5GHz, with a boost clock speed up to 4.0GHz. It's a quad-core processor with 8MB of L3 cache, 65W of thermal design power, and 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes. It also has a dual-channel memory controller and native support for DDR4-2933 modules. The chip comes with an AMD Wraith Stealth CPU cooler. The CPU doesn't come with integrated graphics.
Tom's Hardware points out that the current listings for the card vary greatly in price. The Lazada listing has the card for roughly $71 after conversion to dollars while the AMD's Amazon listing has the chip at just under $184. Pricing could change for the chip as it becomes more generally available.
Lowyat reports that the chip will hit the market on March 3, 2020, so we'll keep an eye on it to see if listings come out with a uniform price.
