RTX 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti Laptop GPUs get NVIDIA Studio driver support
It feels good to be supported, doesn't it?
What you need to know
- If you are the owner of a laptop with an RTX 3070 Ti or 3080 Ti GPU, February's NVIDIA Studio driver will support your card.
- This driver "unlocks enhanced support and performance for Redshift RT," meaning RTX GPUs will see accelerated Autodesk Maya and Cinema 4D workflows, along with improvements in other apps.
The latest NVIDIA Studio driver supports RTX 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti Laptop GPUs, meaning you can own one of the best graphics cards for portable computing and reap the rewards of NVIDIA's handy-dandy software updates without impediment.
As for what February's driver entails beyond just added support for two recent laptop graphics cards: The big-ticket item for the month is an update to Maxon's Redshift renderer.
"Well-known to 3D artists, Maxon's Redshift renderer is powerful, biased and GPU accelerated — built to exceed the demands of contemporary high-end production rendering," NVIDIA's blog post reads. "Redshift recently launched Redshift RT — a real-time rendering feature — in beta, allowing 3D artists to omit unnecessary wait times for renders to finalize."
Redshift RT is part of the February driver update. It's exclusive to NVIDIA RTX graphics cards, meaning you're not going to get this particular perk anywhere else.
For those wondering which laptops have the aforementioned 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti, the Razer Blade 17 and 15 are two examples. MSI's Creator Z16 and Creator Z17 Studio laptops will also pack 3080 Ti cards.
You can see the full writeup over at NVIDIA's blog.
Looking to get in the game with a high-end RTX 3080 Ti GPU that features the support of NVIDIA's Studio driver? The Razer Blade 17 is one option with which to do exactly that.
