Roguelike 'Below' finally launches on Xbox One and PC

Below was initially teased close to the original Xbox One's reveal, and since then was delayed numerous times. Recently, there was evidence that the team was making significant progress on the title. A few weeks ago, Below was rated "M" by the Australian Classifications agency. The game contains violence so that's why it was given that rating as agencies outside of the United States are stricter. Usually when games are rated, they're announced or released shortly after. Luckily, that's what happened because Below is now available on Xbox One and PC.

For those unfamiliar with the project, the game is a top-down roguelike which focuses on exploration and melee combat. You're tasked with exploring a network of underground areas as you acquire better gear. However, death is permanent and once you're killed, you have to start the game from the beginning. The more you play, the more you learn, and can hopefully complete the game on your next attempt.

Below costs $24.99 on the Xbox Store and is also available through Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service which gives you access to over a hundred games for $9.99 a month. It's a lot like Netflix because certain content rotates in and out.

Last but not least, the title also supports Xbox One X. In our analysis, we determined that the game runs at native 4K resolution on the console and looks unbelievably smooth at sixty frames per second (FPS). In a game that requires split-second dodging and sword-slashing, you need that higher FPS to make the controls feel responsive.
