Rockstar reveals Red Dead Redemption 2 for Xbox One, trailer coming on October 20

Red Dead Redemption was one of the biggest games of the Xbox 360 era, taking place in an unprecedented open world which continues to influence modern open world titles even today. Rockstar Games, known primarily for Grand Theft Auto, are targeting a Fall 2017 launch for Red Dead Redemption 2 on both Xbox One and PS4.

After a couple of days of teaser images, the studio has now revealed that a trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 will go live in two days time on October 20th at 11 AM EST.

From the description on the game's website, it looks like Red Dead Redemption 2 will not only feature Rockstar's signature open-world campaign treatment but also deploy what they have learned in the multiplayer space with Grand Theft Auto Online. The website features logos for Xbox and PlayStation but gives no indication of a Windows PC version.

"Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America's unforgiving heartland. The game's vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience."

The title "Red Dead Redemption 2" was apparently leaked by a former Rockstar developer almost a year ago, in addition to the game's map, which appears to sit next to locations from the previous game. The rumored map doesn't feature the last game's railroads and also interestingly features "New Bordeaux," which is the fictional city for another Take Two-owned open-world crime fantasy, Mafia III.

Whether the previous rumors pan out or not remains to be seen, but either way, I'm already confident enough to suggest that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be one of 2017's biggest titles.
