What you need to know
- Minecraft Earth is an upcoming free-to-play augmented reality game.
- It's a lot like Pokémon Go.
- It should roll out to select cities soon as a beta.
- You can sign up to test it out here.
Minecraft Earth is an upcoming augmented reality game that tasks you with working together and building structures in the real world. By looking through the camera on your smartphone, you enter into another world where blocky chickens and pig roam wild. It utilizes all the same rules as regular Minecraft, including animal breeding, redstone circuits, and construction, with an overworld metagame based on location data.
We recently were able to try the game at E3 2019 and absolutely loved it. If you want to experience it for yourself, make sure you sign up for the closed beta here. Keep in mind that certain cities and countries might be getting the Minecraft Earth beta before others.
It'll be interesting to see the types of structures players will build when Minecraft Earth rolls out to everyone. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long!
What are your thoughts on Minecraft Earth? Do you think the game will be popular? Let us know.

The core Minecraft experience is still an awesome and near-constantly updated game, and a great place to start learning the rules of the game ahead of Minecraft Earth's availability.
