PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) gets cross-play between consoles in October
Anything that adds more people to the matchmaking is a good thing.
What you need to know
- Playerunknown's Battlegrounds is getting cross-console cross-play.
- The beta starts in late September.
- Cross-play officially starts in early October.
Today at the Inside Xbox event at Gamescom 2019 the team at PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds announced cross-play for consoles. The game originally launched on the PC first and then the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Coming to beta in late September you will be able to play together across Xbox and PS4.
Unfortunately, PUBG will not be getting cross-play with PC, yet. It may come in a future release but having controllers and keyboard and mouse players on the same server can cause imbalance, so implementation is key.
The biggest positive for cross-play is the player pool. When you add all the PlayStation players to all of the Xbox players you will be able to find games quicker and have better-balanced games. The more people the better I always say.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds cross-play will be live in the test group in late September, with it going fully live to everyone in early October.
Battle Royality
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is one of the first true Battle Royale games. With excellent graphics and now cross-play, it's the perfect time to buy.
