A major Outriders inventory wipe bug is affecting players, and the first patch update didn't help
Losing valuable gear and time.
What you need to know
- Outriders is a brand-new co-op looter shooter from Square Enix and People Can Fly.
- SInce launch, the game has been afflicted with a bug that has caused players' inventories to be wiped.
- The Outriders team is actively working on fixing these issues, and plans to do a mass restoration for affected players.
- Outriders' first patch update was just released, but did little to fix the inventory wipe bug.
Outriders is currently being played by thousands of gamers, and is one of the most popular games on Xbox at the moment. However, Outriders has been plagued with a number of known bugs and issues since launch. The most significant of the bugs has certainly been a nasty inventory wipe bug, which causes players to lose all of their gear randomly. This has caused some players to lose hundreds of hours of progress when they're most valuable gear suddenly goes missing.
Just a short note to reassure you that resolving the inventory wipe is our top priority and will remain so until fixed.

The Outriders team at People Can Fly has been aware of the issue and is working to resolve it at the moment. The first Outriders patch update was just released for Outriders on consoles and PC, and fixed a number of bugs and problems (and restored cross-play). However, despite some promises from the Outriders team, the patch doesn't seem to have helped the inventory wipe issue.
Many players are becoming understandably frustrated with the bug, but the Outriders team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. In the Outriders launch week dev update, the Outriders team revealed that they're planning to do a one-time mass inventory restoration that should restore the vast majority of gear lost by this bug. Before they can do the mass restoration, however, Outriders first has to fix the inventory wipe bug once and for all.
The first Outriders patch update did not cause the bug, which has been reported since Outriders launched, and (presumably) didn't make it worse, either, but players are still reporting being affected by the bug after installing the patch update.
Outriders is currently available for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC. It's also available through Xbox Game Pass, making it one of the best games on Xbox Game Pass for fans of the genre (if you're able to look past the issues affecting the game since launch).
