Oddworld: Soulstorm dials up the tension with its teaser
Oddworld is back and looking mighty good!
Oddworld is an acclaimed series which focuses on the adventures of a bunch of colorful characters in a dystopian world. The franchise spans platformers and third-person action games, but we haven't seen a new title for quite a few years. Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! was a reboot of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, so it wasn't the new adventure many gamers were expecting.
A few years ago, Oddworld Inhabitants announced that the team was working on a game called Oddworld: Soulstorm. Not much was revealed about the project then, but during GDC 2019, the developer released a cinematic teaser for the game. Oddworld: Soulstorm looks absolutely phenomenal and captures the essence of the franchise. It's comical and menacing at the same time.
The video depicts two characters running away from some flying enemies. Unfortunately, they run out of fuel and are racing towards a city where some paranormal event is occurring. It's unclear what the streaks of light emanating from the metropolis are, but they might be souls that are going to cause havoc around the world. What do you want out of Oddworld: Soulstorm? Let us know.
It's unclear if Oddworld: Soulstorm is a third-person action game or a platformer. We'll just have to wait for official gameplay to find out. At this point it's unclear which platforms the title will launch on. Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! was a PlayStation 4 console exclusive for quite some time before it made its way to Xbox One. Hopefully it won't be the case this time.
