New 'Prince of Persia' game possibly in development
Let's hope this means something!
What you need to know
- Prince of Persia is an acclaimed Ubisoft franchise.
- The last game to come out was Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands in 2010.
- A website noticed that Ubisoft had registered princeofpersia6.com today.
- Hopefully, this means that a new Prince of Persia game is in development.
One of the first PC games I ever played was Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame. Not only did it feature incredible environments, but the gameplay was challenging and required a lot of thought as well as quick reflexes. The last Prince of Persia game that came out was Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands in 2010. While it looked incredible, it didn't feature the enhanced combat other games in the series are known for.
However, now it seems like there's a new Prince of Persia game in development. Well, we think. First of all, let me start off by saying that there are rumors and images floating around pointing to a Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remaster. While I haven't seen any concrete evidence that this project exists, there are still images that can't be explained. If this were to happen, it'd probably be used as a promotional tool for a new Prince of Persia game.
According to Altchar, "Ubisoft have registered a domain princeofpersia6.com, which suggests that a new Prince of Persia project is indeed coming. The domain nameservers have been registered to Ubisoft's nameservers and the domain has been set-up today."
Prince of Persia recently made an appearance in For Honor, so it seems like there might be something to this. However, as with any such story, take it with a grain of salt until we receive official confirmation or there's a concrete leak. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more, but I'm excited. I really hope there's a new Prince of Persia game in development that's going to launch soon. That's one of the best franchises Ubisoft has and it's a shame that it hasn't been used in a decade.
