New Elden Ring PC patch fixes Easy Anti-Cheat launch errors and more
Hopefully more PC players will now be able to enter the Lands Between.
What you need to know
- FromSoftware has released Patch 1.02.1 for Elden Ring, which addresses a handful of issues with the game on PC.
- Specifically, the patch fixes a common issue with how Elden Ring launches with Easy Anti-Cheat, as well as mouse input problems. It also reduces the number of files players need to load when entering new areas, improving PC performance.
- Elden Ring's PC performance is still poor overall, and cooperative play is broken on Xbox as well.
While Elden Ring is undoubtedly a masterpiece and is arguably FromSoftware's best game yet, many PC players have experienced a variety of bugs, glitches, and other types of issues in the wake of its recent launch. One of the biggest problems reported is an error with Elden Ring's Easy Anti-Cheat implementation that prevents them from being able to start the game properly. Thankfully, developer FromSoftware has addressed and fixed this issue in the recently-deployed Elden Ring Patch 1.02.1.
Once PC players download the small hotfix, the Easy Anti-Cheat launch errors should be resolved and Elden Ring should start up properly. Notably, the patch also fixed mouse-related input issues, and it "reduced the number of files needed to load when entering a new area" as well. This should make the game run smoother on PC, which is great news — especially since poor PC performance has been one of the top known Elden Ring bugs and launch issues.

Overall, it's good to see that Bandai Namco and FromSoftware are working hard to improve Elden Ring's technical stability, though players are still experiencing a myriad of issues on both consoles and PC. For example, Elden Ring co-op is broken on Xbox, and there's been no word on a fix at the time of writing. Hopefully the developers are able to improve the state of the game soon, as everyone deserves an opportunity to enjoy FromSoftware's magnum opus.
Elden Ring is finally here, and it's available for $60 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC. It's one of the best Xbox games you can play right now if you're a fan of challenging RPGs, and we strongly recommend it.
The successor to Dark Souls
Elden Ring ... oh, Elden Ring!
Elden Ring is FromSoftware's latest fantasy epic, featuring a focus on open-ended design in a universe created by both FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki and A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin.
