New armor, crossplay, and more coming to the Master Chief Collection

In a new blog post, Halo developer 343 Industries has detailed some new items and features that players of the MCC on Xbox One and PC can look forward to in the near future.

Firstly, armor pieces that were originally cut from Halo: Reach — a helmet referred to as "GRD" by the community and a chestpiece — are being added to the game in Season 4, which begins when Halo 4 is brought to PC. Next up, both crossplay and input-based matchmaking are coming. Crossplay allows Xbox One and PC players to play together, while input-based matchmaking enables players to choose whether they go up against controller users or mouse and keyboard users. Also, 343 Industries is working to get regional server selection up and running, which allows players to make sure the matchmaker puts them in a server in their region. This will likely increase wait times a bit, but will ultimately ensure good connections. Finally, the developers are looking to try and get a custom games browser into the MCC, which will give players the ability to find and join other people playing a specific type of custom gametype.

Additionally, the blog post also included some details about the upcoming Halo 4 PC test flight. According to the post, players can expect to be able to participate in all of Halo 4's content in some capacity. This includes campaign, multiplayer, Forge mode, Theater mode, Spartan Ops missions, and customization. However, specifics about how much of these modes players will be able to access is unknown at the moment.
