- The update has been in active development for over six months now, and it's officially rolling out to the public.
- The release comes to every platform supported by Minecraft's Bedrock and Java Editions, starting today.
As reported earlier this week, the Nether Update is now rolling out to all platforms that supports Minecraft's Bedrock or Java Editions. This is the first major update for Minecraft in 2020, and it packs an exhaustingly long list of new features, mechanics, and changes to the Nether that players can explore and discover. Fortunately, we've got a quick cheat sheet that gives you a run down of all the tasty tidbits you should be aware of.

The update should be rolling out for players on Minecraft: Bedrock Edition for Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS. Players on Minecraft: Java Edition should see the update for Windows, macOS, and Linux. You may not see the update immediately as Mojang Studios ensures a smooth release for everyone. The Java Edition is getting the update first, than other platforms will follow.
The Nether Update gives players new biomes, mobs, locations, blocks, items, and even an ore that's superior to diamonds! There's a lot to unpack, but you'll have plenty of time, since it's now possible to live in the Nether full time, just like in the Overworld. It's very exciting, and from our time with early builds, Mojang Studios has done a fantastic job delivering a solid and worthwhile update for Minecraft. It won't be long before we start hearing whispers of the next big update, however.
