Minecraft guide: Full list of Achievements in 'the Nether Update'
Become the master of Minecraft.
The Nether Update has arrived for all Minecraft fans, and that means some new Achievements to earn. Right? While the Nether Update does indeed add new Achievements to the Bedrock Edition, there's not nearly as many as fans of the game were hoping. Only four new achievements were added for the Nether Update, despite the gargantuan size of the update as a whole. For the Java Edition, things look a little better with ten Advancements in all added, but Advancements don't hold the same weight or prestige as Achievements for the Bedrock Edition.
That being said, one of the new Achievements for the Nether Update does showcase a brand-new feature: rewards for completing achievements in the form of in-game cosmetics and emotes. Don't believe me? You can find all the info you need right here.

The Nether Update for Minecraft has four achievements for a combined total of 125 gold on Xbox One and Windows 10.
What are all of the Achievements added in the Nether Update?
There being only four Achievements added due to the Nether Update, there's not a whole lot to talk about here. Mojang Studios did a good job mixing up the difficulty of the Achievements, but at the end of the day they just didn't add a whole lot. That being said, it could still take hours of hard work to gain all four of these Achievements, if only because one is notably more difficult than all of the others.
Here are all of the Achievements in the Nether Update for Minecraft:
Name | Header Cell - Column 1 | Description | Gold value | Difficulty |
---|---|---|---|---|
Bullseye | Row 0 - Cell 1 | Hit the bullseye of a Target block | 15G / Reward | Easy |
Cover Me in Debris | Row 1 - Cell 1 | Wear a full set of Netherite armor | 50G | Very hard |
Oooh, Shiny! | Row 2 - Cell 1 | Distract a Piglin using gold | 30G | Medium |
Hot Tourist Destination | Row 3 - Cell 1 | Visit all Nether biomes | 30G | Hard |
How do I get all of the Achievements in the Nether Update?
Knowing what the new Achievements are is different than finishing them, and completionists who want to maintain or achieve a 100% completion of Minecraft might want to know the secrets behind these Achievements. Most of them are relatively simple to accomplish, but one stands out above the rest as being the most time-consuming Achievement in the Nether Update.

Here's how to get all of the Achievements in the Nether Update:
Bullseye. This Achievement is the easiest of the four to obtain, and in a way it's also the most interesting. All you have to do is use a bow or crossbow to strike the center of a target block. All you need to make a target block is one hay bale and four pieces of redstone, combined in a crafting table. Aside from the gold, this also nets you a fancy new reward. That's right, you can now earn character creation cosmetic items or emotes by completing Achievements, and this one is the only Achievement part of the Nether Update that supports this.
Oooh, Shiny! Piglins are one of the new mobs added in the Nether Update, and they have their own little gold-centric society going on. They're normally quite aggressive towards players, but can be pursuaded if you're wearing gold armor anywhere on your body. You can even chuck gold ingots their way in exchange for items, in a system known as bartering. This Achievement is "medium" difficulty only because you need excess gold, access to the Nether, and you need to find piglins.
Hot Tourist Destination. This Achievement is all about exploration. A total of four completely new biomes were added in the Nether Update, and you'll need to find and explore all of them to get this Achievement. If you're on a new map, this will be a little easier, but those playing on older maps will need to expand your reach a bit more. Here's some info on finding all the new biomes, and also how to prepare your old worlds for the Nether Update.
Cover Me in Debris. This Achievement has earned its "very hard" difficulty level, if only because it's incredibly time consuming to accomplish. In order to gain this particular Achievement, you'll need to don a full suit of netherite armor. Netherite is absurdly rare and hard to find, but also requires that you have large amounts of gold, and a full suit of diamond armor to upgrade into netherite armor. Yeah, this one will take a while. If you're thinking about it, stick in the lower levels of the Nether and make sure you have your diamond pickaxe handy.
What are all of the Advancements added in the Java Edition?
Advancements in the Java Edition are a little different than Achievements. Rather than encouraging players to accomplish certain goals in exchange for "points" (like Gold for Xbox and Windows 10) or other rewards, it's simply a way of tracking your progress through the game by giving you milestones to strive for. Despite this, Mojang Studios actually added a lot of Advancements specific to the Nether Update. including all the Achievements for the Bedrock Edition plus an additional six more.
Here are all of the Advancements added to the Nether Update for the Java Edition:
Name | Header Cell - Column 1 | Description |
---|---|---|
Hidden in the Depths | Row 0 - Cell 1 | Obtain Ancient Debris |
Cover Me in Debris | Row 1 - Cell 1 | Get a full suit of Netherite Armor |
Country Lode, Take Me Home | Row 2 - Cell 1 | Use a Compass on a Lodestone |
Who Is Cutting Onions? | Row 3 - Cell 1 | Obtain Crying Obsidian |
Not Quite "Nine" Lives | Row 4 - Cell 1 | Charge a Respawn Anchor to the maximum |
This Boat Has Legs | Row 5 - Cell 1 | Ride a Strider with a Warped Fungus on a Stick |
Hot Tourist Destination | Row 6 - Cell 1 | Explore all Nether biomes |
Those Were the Days | Row 7 - Cell 1 | Enter a Bastion Remnant |
War Pigs | Row 8 - Cell 1 | Loot a chest in a Bastion Remnant |
Oh Shiny | Row 9 - Cell 1 | Distract Piglins with gold |
The mark of progress
I personally wish that Mojang Studios had made all ten of the Advancements added to the Java Edition Achievements for the Bedrock Edition, but this didn't happen. Instead, we got four Achievements. Albeit, they're well-balanced and do a good job of marking progress, but it still feels like the Nether Update deserved more than just four. Either way, those who have made it this far into the guide now possess the knowledge necessary to go forth and 100% the Nether Update, and add to your growing Gold fortune. Happy hunting, players.
