Microsoft's Fluent Design System goes cross platform with iOS, Android, and the web
Android, iOS, and web apps can now take advantage of Microsoft's Fluent Design Language.
Microsoft has published a brand new Fluent Design System website today that expands its design language across not only Windows, but iOS, Android, and the web. This is key to Microsoft's goal of bringing its new design language to all its products and services, including apps on non-Windows platforms.
If you're a developer building an iOS, Android, or Progressive Web App, you can now utilize Fluent Design complete with drop shadows, blur effects, and more. The new Fluent Design website describes the design language as follows:
This should mean developers and Microsoft can keep app design consistent no matter what type of app is being built. If it's a PWA, it can still look "at home" on Windows, even if it's not a native UWP app.
Microsoft is going to be talking more about Fluent Design and its cross platform intentions throughout Build 2019, so keep it locked to Windows Central as we bring you all the news on that front.
