Microsoft working on fix for Windows Insiders unable to update to build 18875
A fix for Insiders unable to update from build 18362.53 is expected later this week.
Microsoft last week move the Windows Insider Fast ring up to its first 20H1 build with the release of build 18875, but it appears at least some Insiders have been unable to update. In an update to the original 18875 release post, Windows Insider chief Dona Sarkar now says Microsoft has found the issue causing the update to fail, and a fix is expected by the end of the week.
At the root of things is a migration error that applies when trying to update from build 18362.53 to build 18875. "To resolve this issue, we are creating a new Cumulative Update that will need to be applied on top of Build 18362.53 first before Insiders will be able to update to the latest 20H1 builds," Sarkar said in the updated blog post.
Hello #WindowsInsiders check out our blog post for Build 18875 if you're experiencing issues with updating to this build. For now, Microsoft has stopped offering the latest build to Insiders who are currently stuck on build 18362.53. The team is also holding off on shipping any new 20H1 preview builds until the fix is available.
Sarkar says that the goal is to ship the new cumulative update with a fix for the issue by the end of the week.
