Microsoft 365 bolsters security with new features for Teams, Office 365, more
A smorgasbord of enhancements for businesses is on deck.
Microsoft today debuted a slew of privacy and security enhancements for Microsoft 365. Included are updates to Microsoft Teams and Office 365 to keep things more secure, as well as new granular controls and capabilities for IT professionals.
One of the biggest additions is the Compliance Manager tool. With Compliance Manager, IT leaders can create their own assessments to check their on-premises and non-Microsoft apps against any regulation or standard. Essentially, the cloud-based allows administrators to ensure all of their data protections are up to snuff while enabling teams to collaborate in preparation for audits.
"Additionally, Compliance Manager can now detect your tenant settings and automatically update the status of your controls by integrating with the Secure Score API," Microsoft said in its blog post.
Outside of Compliance Manager, Microsoft is rolling out additional assurances to make sure sensitive emails stay protected when shared outside of your organization. Office 365 Advanced Message Encryption now allows admins to automatically expire or revoke access to encrypted emails.
In the case of a data leak of phishing attack, Microsoft 365 will now let you quickly identify compromised content and delete email messages or prevent access to confidential information. Additionally, Microsoft Teams recently rolled out new features to block sensitive information in chat channels for users who aren't cleared to see it, as well as enhancements for data loss prevention.
These capabilities are coming to Microsoft 365 E5 and E5 Compliance customers. For more, you can check out Microsoft's full blog post.
