Lenovo's new Legion Slim 7i is 'world's lightest' 15-inch gaming laptop with RTX graphics
The Legion line just gained a new portable powerhouse.
What you need to know
- Lenovo announced the new Legion Slim 7i gaming laptop as part of its 2020 holiday lineup.
- Lenovo claims the Legion Slim 7i is the 'world's lightest' 15-inch RTX-powered gaming laptop.
- The Legion Slim 7i is expected to go on sale in October starting at $1,330.
Gaming laptops used to be chunky beasts, but they seem to be getting slimmer every year. Enter the new Lenovo Legion Slim 7i, which the company claims is the lightest 15-inch gaming laptop you can get your hands on with NVVIDIA RTX graphics. For all of that "slim" talk, it doesn't sacrifice on the power front either.
The Legion Slim 7i doesn't incorporate Intel's upcoming 11th Gen Core processors, but it does give you plenty of latitude with the current 10th gen chips. That includes up to a Core i9-10980HK processor, combined with up to 32GB of speedy DDR4-3200 memory. Up to 2TB of storage gives you plenty of room for all of your games, too.
The real draw here, however, is what Lenovo managed to do with slimming things down. At 0.7 inches and just under four pounds, the Legion Slim 9i is pretty darn portable for a gaming laptop. In those slim chassis, Lenovo still included up to NVIDIA RTX 2060 Max-Q graphics, too.

Despite being slim, Lenovo claims the Legion Slim 7i will stay "cool under pressure." That's thanks to a more optimized airflow solution backed by 15 percent more airflow than previous generations. Smartly placed sensors should also help the cooling system get ahead of what you throw at it.
There are other niceties thrown in here, too. Lenovo's mechanical-feeling TrueStrike keyboard is back with Corsair iCue integration for lighting effects. You also get Dolby Vision for binge sessions with supported movies, along with a privacy shutter and a fingerprint reader.
You still have a couple of months before you can get your hands on one, though. Lenovo says it expects the Legion Slim 7i to go on sale in October starting at $1,330. In the meantime, you can check out our list of the best gaming laptops for a look at our current picks for gaming top dogs.
