J. Crew is discontinuing its Mercantile line and Amazon's blowing out inventory at 50% off
Alexa, play "Another One Bites the Dust."
It's been a rough couple of years for retail brands. From Toys R Us folding to Sears' bankruptcy, and thousands of others in between, it's not surprising to hear about additional brands being added to the list of companies that aren't quite cutting it. A few days ago, Vox reported that J.Crew will be shutting down its Mercantile and Nevereven brands. The latter launched only a couple of weeks ago, and J.Crew had just entered a partnership with Amazon to sell its Mercantile line back in September.
If you've been eying the Mercantile collection, don't fret. While the line may be going away for good, today Amazon is offering 50% off almost 200 Mercantile items. The line is meant to make J.Crew quality affordable, since the store isn't exactly known for having bottom-line prices. Today's sale gets you the best of both worlds.
Here are some highlights from the massive selection:
Perfect for layering
This super-soft sweater will keep you warm without adding a ton of bulk. There are six color options to compliment the rest of your wardrobe.
Comfortable and professional
Sometimes you don't want to wear jeans, but December and skirts don't mix well. These ankle-length pants are the perfect mix of classic and contemporary, and they have a few color options for added flair.
An updated classic
This 100% cotton jacket isn't your typical winter coat. With three color choices, a flattering cut, a quilted design, and corduroy details, it'll protect you from the cold while ensuring you look great.
Dapper as heck
Wool is a fantastic insulator. Combine that with a unique color, two front pockets, and a button closure, and you have yourself a jacket that'll stand out among the rest. There's some viscose in the construction, too, for added comfort and flexibility.
Bundle up, buttercup
The bad news: it's just going to keep getting colder. The good news: this jacket is long enough to protect your torso and thighs from the chill. The tie belt gives a flattering silhouette that'll prevent you from looking like a walking rectangle, too.
Slim, not skintight
Bulky jeans aren't exactly fashionable, but not everyone wants to wear the ultra-tight skinnies that are dominating the world of denim. These straight fit jeans come in several different washes, and they're narrow enough to look modern without cutting off your circulation.
Conquer the office draft
Four colors. Endless looks. This comfy and cozy cardi will add a light layer of warmth or coverage, and you can accessorize it with details like a belt or scarf too.
For the holiday pics
Every guy needs a few nice button-downs. Available in a range of neutral colors, these cotton pieces feature stretch for added comfort. They'll look great with jeans or under a suit jacket.
Keep in mind that most of the goodies being offered are part of Amazon's Prime Wardrobe program, which will let you try the pieces on before you commit to them.
