inXile Entertainment working on unannounced multiplayer VR game

What you need to know

  • inXile Entertainment was recently acquired by Microsoft.
  • The team is still working on an unannounced multiplayer virtual reality project.
  • inXile's latest game "The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep" is a role-playing experience with numerous choices.
  • You can preorder The Bard's Tale IV for $40 through Amazon.

inXile Entertainment was recently purchased by Microsoft, but that hasn't stopped the team from completing projects it was working on before the acquisition. According to a post on its official Twitter page, that includes a virtual reality (VR) game. inXile is "looking for a Senior Unreal 4 Multiplayer Engineer for an unannounced VR project."

inXile's unannounced game is not only a VR project, but it's also a multiplayer experience. Given the fact that the studio is known for enthralling role-playing titles, it'll be interesting to see what this is. Only time will tell, and we can't wait to learn more. Keep in mind that this project has been in development since before the team became a part of Xbox Game Studios. Just because it's working on a VR title doesn't mean that "Project Scarlett" will support VR.

If you can't get enough of inXile's games, be sure to check out The Bard's Tale IV: Director's Cut for Xbox One in the coming weeks. It should launch at the end of August digitally, with a retail release at the beginning of September.

The Bard's Tale IV is set over a hundred years after the events of the last game. The terrible happenings of Skara Brae's violent destruction are nearly forgotten. In the dark ruins below, an evil has waited patiently for its time. Fanatics are gathering control, the famous "Adventurers Guild" has been outlawed, and you must rise up in defiance to become the hero the realm needs.
