The HP Elite x3 acts tough with a Rugged Case and Kevlar back

HP is gearing up its Elite x3 phone with Windows 10 Mobile for a late summer release. Besides the Mobile and Desktop Extender accessories the powerful will also get an optional passive stylus and a few cases including leather and silicone variants.

One version of the case that is perfect for those working outdoors is the Elite x3 Rugged. HP describes the accessory in their QuickSpecs document:

Shield your HP Elite x3 from whatever the day may bring with the anti-slip grip, shock-absorbing HP Elite x3 Rugged Case, which is designed to pass MIL-STD drop testing up to 6 feet (1.8 m).

French site theWINdose got an early look at the rugged case as HP has been taking the near-final phone around on a media tour. The case reportedly has a Kevlar back, and it looks the part for added protection.

No word on pricing for the Elite x3 Rugged Case, but a recent pre-order for the Elite x3 pegs the phone at €699 (~$772 USD), a price that French tech blogger Cassim Ketfi reportedly confirmed verbally with HP France. Ketfi also heard that the phone could launch in late August, but the date may move depending on various factors familiar with any hardware launch.

We've reached out to HP (US) for confirmation about the price and launch date and will follow up if necessary.
