  • Commercial PC revenue went up, consumer PC revenue went down.

HP's fiscal year 2021 results are in, giving us a look at how the company did both in its fourth quarter as well as for the year 2021 in its entirety. The answer is, as always, that HP made a lot of money. This quarter, it beat Wall Street estimates and delivered to shareholders with $16.7 billion in quarterly net revenue. That's a 9.3% year-over-year (YoY) jump from the same quarter last year.

The Personal Systems segment of HP's business pulled in $11.8 billion in quarterly revenue, which is a 13% jump from the previous year. Consumer PC revenue took a dip of 3% YoY, while commercial PC revenue went up by 25%. Units were up by 2% for desktops and down by 9% for notebooks, though HP is still competitive in the latter sector when compared with peers Dell and Lenovo.

Quarterly printing revenue was $4.9 billion, representing "only" 1% in YoY gains. Much like with the PC side of the business, commercial revenue was up, and consumer revenue was down.

As for annual figures now that HP's fiscal year has concluded, the company saw a 12.1% increase in the annual revenue department with a final haul of $63.5 billion. The revenue results translate to $6.5 billion in GAAP net earnings, though HP has attached a note to that figure regarding Oracle: "GAAP net earnings and Net cash provided by operating activities includes a net impact of $1,771 million for one-time Oracle Corporation ("Oracle") litigation proceeds. This has resulted in an impact of $1.55 and $1.45 on the GAAP diluted net earnings per share for the three and twelve months ended October 31, 2021, respectively."
