One of the added perks to buying a new Lumia 640 or Lumia 640 XL is one free year of Office 365. It's not unusual at all for Microsoft to hand out free subscriptions, small Windows 8.1 tablets have been doing it for a while. But it's unusual for a Lumia phone and it's not immediately obvious how you go about claiming your freebie.
So here's what you need to do.
To get your free subscription you need to download a dedicated app from the Windows Phone Store. It's called Office 365 Gift and you can find it either by searching on your device or by using the download links below. Just install it and follow the instructions. You've got until August 14 to claim.
That's literally all there is to it. It's a similar process that Microsoft adopted for claiming the free Fitbit gift with some recent Lumia phones. The app will verify your device is eligible and afterwards you're in for all the benefits like being able to install the Microsoft Office suite on your PC or tablet and 1TB of OneDrive storage.
