How to beat Remnant: From the Ashes 'Dreamer and Nightmare' final boss
Use Ruin and Wildfire.
Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person action game along the lines of Dark Souls. There are a lot of challenging bosses in the game, but none are as hard as the Dreamer and the Nightmare. This is the final encounter which earns you 50 Gamerscore and a coveted Xbox Achievement.
The boss battle occurs when you go through the mirror in the lowest-level basement of Ward 13, your home base. The first part is quite simple because you just have to shoot the Dreamer repeatedly in the head. He looks like Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man and features some similar moves. We were able to kill him in roughly a minute, and so can you by using a fully-upgraded Ruin sniper rifle. It behaves more like a Pulse Rifle, or the deadly Battle Rifle from Halo.
After you've killed the Dreamer, he'll retreat into a massive suit of armor called the Nightmare. This portion of the fight is quite challenging because you can't do any damage without being teleported into another dimension. If you have the Ruin sniper rifle, make sure you charge it because it gives you the ability to revive once. Just shooting the Nightmare or the enemies around him should do the trick.
Dodging the giant balls of fire he shoots is quite easy, however, he'll eventually teleport you to another dimension. That's when things get complicated. Numerous enemies will spawn with you in this dimension, and the more of them you kill, the more damage you'll be able to do to the Nightmare once you exit out of the portal.
Instead of using the Ruin sniper rifle, you should use the Repeater Pistol with the Wildfire Mod to hurt the Nightmare. The Wildfire Mod allows you to shoot up to five projectiles that explode, dealing massive amounts of fire damage. Once you exit out of the portal, your Mod Power Generation is supercharged. This means that you just have to hit the Nightmare a few times and you'll have five Wildfire shots ready. Keep on shooting him with Wildfire until you see a massive explosion.
Remnant: From the Ashes Xbox One review — Is this Dark Souls-like shooter worth buying?
After the red explosion, you'll notice that the Dreamer is poking out of the Nightmare's chest. Quickly switch to the Ruin sniper rifle and keep on shooting the Dreamer, dealing hundreds of thousands of damage points. You'll have to repeat this process a few times because he'll retreat into the Nightmare's chest. We were able to do beat the Nightmare in roughly 8 minutes. You can also do this if you have an upgraded Repeater Pistol with the Wildfire Mod.
