What you need to know

  • Gotham Knights is an upcoming action-adventure game being developed by WB Montreal.
  • The game was previously delayed to a 2022 release window.
  • Gotham Knights now has an October 25, 2022 release date.

WB Montreal's upcoming Bat-Family adventure, Gotham Knights, is now slated for an October 25, 2022 release date. While the game was originally slated to launch in 2021, it was delayed like numerous other titles in order to accommodate additional polish and give the developers more time. Now, there's finally an official date, with a fairly clever announcement via Twitter (pay close attention to the hands of the clock).

Gotham Knights stars characters from the Bat-Family, with the ability to play as Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood. The story revolves around the seeming death of Bruce Wayne and the resulting power vaccuum in Gotham, with various villains trying to carve out their own domains as the mysterious Court of Owls start to make their presence known.

While this story's narrative is pulling from many of the comics, there will be departures as it's ultimately an original tale. The game can be played solo or in two-player co-op, and is coming to both last-generation and current-generation systems as well as PC.

Gotham Knights is just one of the major games WB Games is currently looking to launch in 2022, with action-RPG Hogwarts Legacy and co-op shooter Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League both tentatively still slated for sometime in the same year. Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be delayed to 2023, according to a recent report, but nothing has been officially confirmed just yet.
