Gotham Knights is an upcoming action-adventure game from developer WB Montreal and publisher WB Games. During DC Fandome 2021, a new trailer showed off the threat posed by the Court of Owls, revealing just how far the mystery of this secret society goes. You can check out the trailer below.
In Gotham Knights, Bruce Wayne's apparent death kickstarts a chain reaction that sees multiple villains fighting for power in Gotham. Meanwhile, various trainees of the Caped Crusader have to step up, allowing players to fight in single-player or two-player co-op as Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing or Jason Todd. The Court of Owls also plays a huge role, drawing inspiration from the comics but also seeing some departures in how the story is told, according to the developers.
Gotham Knights is not set in the same universe as the Batman Arkham games, despite the story premise and the fact that WB Montreal developed Batman: Arkham Origins and supported the development of other games in the series. Instead, the continuation of the Arkham games is found in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which is being developed by Rocksteady Games.
Originally slated to launch at some point in 2021, Gotham Knights is one of the many, many games that's been delayed over the last year due to the effect of the pandemic. As a result, Gotham Knights is now slated to arrive in 2022 on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC, PS5 and PS4.
