Today, developer The Coalition announced radical changes to the progression and currency systems in Gears 5. Progression has been made much simpler because the Scrap and Supply, and Totem system are gone. You can take a look at what The Coalition wrote below.
However, the bigger addition has to be Gears Coins. It's used to unlock nearly everything in the store from now on. The post said the following about the new currency.
