Gears 5 adds Anthony Carmine, Benjamin Carmine and Gary Carmine as characters
Prepare for a lot of deaths.
What you need to know
- The Coalition has announced that Anthony, Benjamin and Gary Carmine are being added to Gears 5 today.
- Each of these three can be unlocked by earning 30,000 XP, or purchased.
- The three Carmines are only available in PvP right now, with PvE support coming later.
- This is part of The Coalition's move to release characters faster.
While Clayton Carmine and his niece Lizzie Carmine have been available in Gears 5 for some time, the remainder of the infamously catastrophic Carmine clan have not been playable...until now. Today, The Coalition revealed that Anthony Carmine, Benjamin Carmine and Gary Carmine are all being added as playable characters. You can take a look at the three Carmines in action in the amusing trailer below.
Right now, these three will only be available in PvP (player-versus-player), with PvE (player-versus-environment) updates coming at a later date. This is part of The Coalition's changing strategy to get new characters out faster. If you want to earn any of the three Carmines, you'll just need to craft the Totem for them and earn 30,000 XP while playing. You can also purchase them separately for 500 Iron, or in one of two bundles.
Gears 5 will be Xbox Series X Optimized, with The Coalition exploring Ray Tracing for global illumination, more particle effects, better textures and even a 120FPS (frames-per-second) mode.
Gears evolved
Gears 5 shows that The Coalition is ready to put its mark on this legendary franchise. It blends a semi-open world design when it comes to the campaign with intense gameplay.
