At the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, Xbox just dropped an atomic bomb. As in atomic green, get it? To celebrate 25 years of Xbox, it's unveiled the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition collection.

This special release pays homage to the original 2001 console with a striking, transparent design. We finally got the green everyone wanted!

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announced at the showcase that fans at the event would receive the new console FOR FREE. So that's all attendees with 'FAN' on their badges, not media.

Celebrating "Back to Xbox"

The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console, now listed on the Xbox store, features a translucent "OG Green" chassis, directly inspired by the aesthetic of the original Xbox.

While the exterior marks a bold departure from the standard (and frankly boring) matte black or white. The internal hardware maintains the performance of the standard 1TB Xbox Series X, but in a badass limited edition transparent green, so we can see all the guts of our favorite console in action.

There's a 25th Anniversary logo on the front of the console, and the X lights up in that green glow that was teased recently with the new Xbox logo (we KNEW this had to mean something).

An anniversary controller too!

If you don't want to go and buy a whole new console, don't fear. Complementing the console is the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition, now also listed.

It features the same translucent OG Green finish, allowing fans to see the internal components. Essentially, it's very similar to the Cipher collection, but finally in the color we've all been begging and pleading with Xbox for.

It includes several subtle nods to Xbox history, such as bumpers designed to honor the classic black-and-white buttons on the original "Duke" controller, and a fully transparent battery door that reveals the classic logo.

Pricing and specific pre-order details are expected to be announced at major retailers in the coming weeks.

Are you planning on picking up the X25 collection, or are you hoping for more 25th-anniversary surprises later this year?
