A Minecraft Movie just broke box office records. During its opening weekend, the film earned the most revenue ever for a movie based on a video game.
While many will credit the commercial success of A Minecraft Movie to the cast of the film or the massive following of the Minecraft franchise, I have another theory. Maybe, just maybe, A Minecraft Movie succeeded because it inspired the best sauce for chicken nuggets McDonald's has ever released.
I've eaten chicken nuggets since I was a child. As a young boy, I astounded my parents and bystanders by demolishing 20 nuggets at a time back when that size was a limited promotion. Don't believe my dedication to the nugget? This image has been my Microsoft account profile photo since 2013.
Nether Flame Sauce
You read that correctly. The Nether Flame Sauce that's now at McDonald's is better than barbeque, ketchup, or ranch when it comes to dipping. It even surpasses the infamous Szechuan Sauce and the pure honey that can only be found at select locations.
Nether Flame Sauce is flavorful, which is more than I can say for many hot sauces. The bell pepper comes through well. I didn’t specifically taste the apricot, but it likely contributes to the overall flavor
It's quite nice to have a taste of the Nether available without having to deal with mobs, fire, or lava.
Apple Cake McFlurry
Unfortunately, the Apple Cake McFlurry did not bring joy. I found the pieces rather chalky. I love a good McFlurry, but the Apple Cake McFlurry is not my favorite.
As is often the case when ordering a McFlurry, the standard number of toppings is not enough to get the ratio right of toppings to ice cream. I suggest getting extra toppings for a few extra pennies whenever ordering a McFlurry.
Considering the toppings of the Apple Cake McFlurry aren't great, it's not that much of a loss to get a few bites without them. But I spoil myself with extra Oreos when I do get a McFlurry.
One thing I recommend trying that may be new is dipping your fries into your McFlurry.
A Minecraft Movie Meal
The Minecraft Movie happy meal comes with food, a drink, and a toy or book. Those items all come in a box inspired by A Minecraft Movie.
Note that the Minecraft Movie Meal differs from a Happy Meal. I was saddened to see someone at my local McDonald's be disappointed when they mixed up those two Minecraft-themed meals.
The Minecraft Movie deal comes with a Big Mac, 9 McNuggets, or 4 Veggie Dippers. It also includes a side, a drink, and an exclusive collectible.
