Fortnite Edition purple Xbox One S leaks online
That's quite a looker.
What you need to know
- A purple Fortnite Xbox One S leaked.
- It's unclear when the device will launch.
- Expect more news closer to E3 2019.
Updated June 3, 2019: Microsoft officially confirmed the purple Xbox One S Fortnite Battle Royale Special Edition on Xbox Wire.
Fortnite is an incredibly popular third-person shooter which has become a cultural phenomenon over the past few years. While Microsoft and Epic Games have partnered together for an Xbox One S which comes bundled with Fortnite content, you can't classify it as a "special edition" by any stretch of the imagination. Luckily, that's about to change very soon.
Recently, an image appeared online — which is quite blurry unfortunately — of a purple Fortnite-themed Xbox One S. The console is rather striking because the purple is a bold look. First teased by Brad Sams, the device is a rare departure for Microsoft. We also confirmed its existence when we revealed the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition's name a few months ago.
As you can hopefully see, the Fortnite Edition purple Xbox One S sports a striking black-to-grape gradient that makes it unique among currently-available consoles. The Xbox One S has only been released in white beforehand, with the gradient effect being limited to special editions Xbox One X units.
Keep in mind that this is a regular Xbox One S, and not the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition. It has a disc drive. We can also confirm that this product is real, with more information expected between now and E3 2019. Are you interested in the console? Let us know.
Thanks IdleSloth for the tip.
